Front End Engineer (React/Typescript)

Condense Reality is a fast growing VC funded startup and the first company in the world to capture and stream live events as volumetric video

Our technology is changing how live events are experienced and we are laser focused on exciting opportunities in Music and Sport.

We were named in the CIC Ones to Watch 2021 and in Beauhurst’s 10 hottest tech companies in Bristol

We are looking for a Front End Engineer to join our Platform team. The Platform team has an extensive remit, and works on physical and cloud infrastructure, the software that runs in our volumetric capture rigs, and on end user tools and applications.

As a Front End Engineer you’ll be improving web applications used every day by our customers. This role has a strong front-end focus though it will be helpful if you’re able to dip into the code for our Python/Django REST API from time to time. You’ll be working alongside experienced engineers and management who will support you as you grow into the role.

Here are some of the things you might be doing day-to-day:

  • Attend our daily Scrum standup, where you’ll talk about what you’ve achieved and where you need some support, and offer your help to others if they’re stuck
  • Work with our designer on a video call to finalise how a customer will use a new feature
  • Discuss a bug that came up during the last round of integration testing on Slack with other engineers, collectively develop a plan to address it and add some tickets for later prioritisation
  • Pop out for some late morning exercise (or whatever works for you) to clear your head!
  • Pair with another engineer to figure out why a test has started failing
  • Do a code review for a new feature one of your colleagues has implemented, and offer constructive feedback
  • Set your status to “do not disturb” so you can focus on your ticket work for this sprint

You’ll bring the following skills and experience to the role:

  • React and Javascript (we’ll teach you TypeScript if you don’t know it already)
  • Demonstrable experience of building sophisticated single-page applications against REST APIs
  • Using git to work collaboratively on code

Interest and experience in 3D graphics is also helpful, as is experience working with audio and video.

You’ll have the opportunity to both deepen your frontend expertise and learn about the other technologies we use (Go, C++, Kubernetes, CUDA and GPUs) elsewhere in the product, supported by some of the top engineers in their fields. You can choose what platform you work on (Mac, Windows or Linux) and we’ll make sure your home working setup is fit for purpose.

We have a fantastic working culture focused around giving people autonomy and ownership within a highly collaborative, flexible and supportive team.

Salary: £35k-45k

We offer:

  • An inclusive and supportive culture to help you achieve your maximum potential
  • Competitive pay and a share option scheme
  • Flexible working hours and remote first culture (fully supported home working)
  • A centrally located office in Bristol should you wish to use it
  • 5% employer match contribution to your pension
  • 26 days holiday with buy/sell scheme
  • A real commitment to your training & development (including paid courses / subscriptions)
  • Private medical insurance

Sounds like you?
